2006 Fundraising Review

Kentucky Derby 132
A long time tradition at the Porter household became a new tradition for Prader-Willi syndrome fund raising. The Porters, who have hosted a party for their family and friends on Derby day for the last 10 years decided to create a twist in 2006 and raise money for PWSA of Colorado.

The event was an overwhelming success as over 250 adults and children attended the event. The weather was beautiful, the mint juleps were perfect, and much fun was had by all. To raise money, guests were able to purchase packages of “Prader-Willi-Dollars” that could be used in drawings, betting on the horse race, and in the final live auction afterwards.

Overall, over $16,000 was brought in from individual donations, and much more contributed by local businesses. Please plan on attending the 133rd Derby fund raiser, scheduled for May 5th of 2007!

Wins-For-Kids
Thanks for the enormous generosity of the Colorado Rockies and Clint and Karla Hurdle, PWSA of Colorado received a $32,000 donation from their Wins-for-Kids program. This program, based on donations given for every win by the Rockies, not only brought in much needed funds, but also contributed to awareness of PWS through the Denver community. We can’t thank the Rockies and the Hurdles enough for their amazing support of PWSA!

PWSA Bowl-A-Thon
A long time tradition, this year did not disappoint. We had moved the bowl-a-thon to the Fall for scheduling purposes, and our turnout was superb. Overall, we raised $5,000 in this event to support PWSA.
