Big Brown Takes the Preakness in Fine Fashion

Perhaps this is the year that we finally see a Triple Crown Winner?  The weather was beautiful today here in Colorado, but that didn't stop me from sneaking in around 4pm to watch the Preakness.

Derby 134 Agenda is Set

The agenda is set for the 134th Kentucky Derby Fundraiser. The program guides are at the printer as we speak, and the final preparations are definitely underway.  We are excited. Are you?

Don't Miss Our First Kentucky Derby Hat Contest

Don't miss our first Kentucky Derby Hat contest this year!  Sorry guys, its ladies only!  But, don't worry, next year we are considering a men's fashion contest as well (perhaps something around the seersucker theme?)

Many Thanks To Our Derby 2008 Top Sponsors!

These events would be fun, but they would not be a success unless we were able to raise money to support our program services.  We have a lot of things going on in 2008, and we are eager to get started.  With that said, the 2008 Kentucky Derby fundraiser is off to a GREAT START!

War Pass Out of the Derby!

War Pass Injured, Out of Kentucky Derby
Updated: April 19, 2008
From Churchill Downs press release

Robert LaPenta's War Pass, the champion 2-year-old of 2007 and winner of the $2 million Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) at Monmouth Park, has suffered a leg injury that has knocked the colt out of the $2 million guaranteed Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I).

Derby Prep is Fast Underway

The trainers are scrambling to get their horses ready, Churchill Downs is getting ready, and SO ARE WE!  Thanks to Lori and Kari, we are methodically marking off the list of to-do items that need to get done before the Derby.

I have a few more on my list that Lori keeps reminding me about, including the Wine, a few more auction items, and the T-Shirts.  Geez, its a full time job!

Anyways, MANY MANY thanks to our sponsors and those who plan or have supported us this year!

Clint and Karla Hurdle

Time to Run for the Roses!

I love this time of year! The weather starts to warm up (well in Colorado, you have to put up with 70s and Sun - followed by a day or two of snow) and people start to come outside!Once again, we are racing for a cure for Prader-Willi syndrome. PLEASE plan to come and join us this year on the 3rd of May for the 134th running of the Kentucky Derby! There will be LOTS going on I can assure you. What can you expect?

Rockies Wins for Kids Program

Many have asked about the commercial often shown on Fox Sports Rocky Mountain regarding the Rockies' "Wins for Kids" program that benefits both the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association (us) and the Children's Hospital of Denver.

Basically, through the program, the Colorado Rockies, and other participants (we are not sure how many, but Clint and Karla Hurdle are one of them) will donate $100 for every Rockies win. We assume they will include the play-off games, which means that the current record of 98 wins will all count!

Go Rockies!!!!!

Rockies fever has swept the city of Denver and the entire Rocky Mountain region!  Not only are the Rockies setting records for MLB, they are energizing the town.  We are so thrilled for the team, and for Clint Hurdle and his family.

As most know, his daughter Madison (5) has Prader-Willi syndrome.  He has been an amazing father and husband, and also incredibly helpful for our organization here and the cause as a whole.  I attended the NLCS championship game last night and it was simply electrifying!

Go ROCKIES!!!

FPWR Conference a Success!

Thanks to all that attended the conference up in Winter Park this past weekend.  We had an excellent set of speakers, and the weather held up nicely.  A set of photos will be posted on the FPWR website shortly.  In addition, a more detailed review of the speakers and sessions will be posted up there as  well.
